Why every investor should have an Investment Policy Statement

Do you have an Investment Policy Statement?  If not, then you should.  An Investment Policy Statement will define your tolerance for market risk as well as the rate of return you should receive for that relative market risk.

Where you one of the investors who lost 50% during the Internet bubble of 2000-2002?   And then experienced similar or greater losses during the Financial crisis of 2007-2009.
